I was raised in Cedar St., Bushwick and attended P.S. 74, J.H.S. 57 and Bushwick H.S. and CCNY (graduated in '66). I went to Vietnam and settled in Sydney, Australia. I visit Brooklyn about every two years for family catchup and planning studies (I'm a town planner). I always study changes in Green Point and Ridgewood. My nephew works for the Police Dept. (Transit c/ Canal Station - Phillip Rauscher). I like the 197a Community Plans under the City and am trying to apply similar techniques here.
I would welcome any comment from interested Brooklyn people. Basically I'm a community developer at heart and have practiced such for 30 years here in Australia (especially in the City of Newcastle). In Newcastle we are now starting the Newcastle Alliance based on the downtown NY Alliance.

My Brooklyn was P.S. 202 and Thomas Jefferson High School . . . loaded with friends like Myrna Schneider, Eunice Starr, Lila Ettinger, Cubie Dworkin, Terry Perlmutter, Ira Ashenfaub and all the gang who graduated in 1953. If anyone from the Essex & Dumont area is out there please contact me.
My Brooklyn was a wondrous place of friends, family and fun. It was sledding down the hills of a vacant lot in winter and catching fireflies in the summer. It was being out of doors from morning 'til night and never having time to be bored. It was stoopball, boxball and punchball. It was Good Humor ice-cream and hanging out on the stoop late at night, because it was cooler than being in the house. It was knowing everyone on the block and hearing your Mom yelling your name, because it was time for supper. My Brooklyn is a wondrous place of memories.
