My Brooklyn

Readers Report

Tony Stromecki

Born: Brooklyn Hosp., 11/30/38
Home: 30th St. between 3rd & 4th Ave. Then 29th St.
Moved: Kingsboro Projects (1941 to 1952)
Back to: 31st St. between 4th & 5th Ave.

Travelled quite a bit. Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, Central America, South East Asia, Mediterranean Countries. My Brooklyn is all of these lands and far off places with Nathan's and Junior's thrown in for good measure. And you don't need any reservations, passports, shots, or luggage. Brooklyn ... a country bordered on three (or tree) sides by water and some other places on the fourth side.

Riding on a trolly car on Flatbush Ave. Going to Ebbets Field to watch de BUMS play baseball. Sledding on Dead Man's Hill in Prospect Park. Watching a parade at curbside on Flatbush Ave. Going to P.S. 9 in Park Slope. And let's not forget Coney Island where the Cyclone was the Greatest thrill around. And of course, Nathan's hotdogs.

Growing up in Brooklyn was the experience of a lifetime, one I shan't soon forget.
