My Brooklyn was Park Slope, 8th Street and 7th Avenue.
Ballgames in Prospect Park in summertime, sledding down Monument Hill in the winter time. Fran's Pizza Shop for a slice, McManus's bar on 1st Street for a beer, the 5th Avenue Diner for a late night snack. The Sanders Theatre for a movie, then the Park House Coffee Shoppe after the show for a cruller. St. Saviour's Church for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, St. Saviour's High School Gym for "Sing Out Brooklyn" rehearsals. It was such a strong community and, like most others who have left, I never realized while I was experiencing it that it was quite unique. I now live in Port St. Lucie, Florida, after a brief stopover in Staten Island.
We skipped the next stop on the "migration pattern" (New Jersey!) and headed a bit further south! I miss the Brooklyn of my youth, but alas, it now exists only in the precious memories of those who lived and loved there...

And don't forget . . .
riding on the bike path on Ocean Parkway! Hot dogs at Nathan's on to the Boardwalk (the onramp to the world back then) and down to Brighton Beach. I went to Ditmas J.H.S., Erasmus and BC. It was a wonderful place to grow up, but like many I too left. Unlike other places people leave, you gotta miss Brooklyn!
