Charlie Beecher's pool room, Fortunoffs, the Supreme Theatre, the El over Livonia Ave., the cheder on Hegeman, Steve Lawrence (Sidney Leibowitz), the softball games at Jefferson field, Gordon's candy store on Williams and Livonia, the games we played morning, noon, and night in the streets, the gatherings in someone's apt. and kissing girls till our lips were sore. I remember basketball players Harry Boykoff, Hy Gotkin, Sid Tannenbaum, Max Zaslofsky. Boxers Al Davis, Georgie Small, Georgie Kaplan, Bernie Friedkin, Davey Feld, and many more. I remember many friends, Irving Kerzner, Jerry Kahn, Bobby Land, Herman Blitzer, Jordan Miller, and a host of others. I realize Brooklyn had many more great neighborhoods but East New York was my love, my world, my paradise. It will be in my heart forever!

My Brooklyn was growing up on 31st St. across the street from Renee and Morty, also Judy & Evelyn down the street. Going to P.S. 193 on Bedford Av. and Ave. L. Skating and riding our bikes. Later making friends at school with Lee, Barbi, Joan, Nettie, the twins, Bobby, Bruiser (Donny), etc. Hanging at the candy store after school on Ave. K. Later going to James Madison High, taking art classes with Martin Landau. Going to Oriental and Manhattan beaches in the summer, swimming, hanging out with the boys and girls and seeing the big bandsVaughn Monroe, etc. Later meeting other friends Sandy and his "Royal" friends. It was a simple and fun time and I always look back on it with nostalgia. I always feel the boys and girls today don't enjoy their childhood the way we did; they need "things" to have fun we did it by just being together outdoors with friends. Sometimes I go back to Brooklyn and look around but it just doesn't seem the same.

Softball in Callahan Kelly Park and Roma's, Arilola's, Hoffman's Bakery, Sportman's Cafe where Jubilee made the best pizza. Dances at St. Michaels, St. Fortunatas. The smell of fresh Italian bread from Colonial on Eastern Pkwy. or Bilello's on Pacific Street. Brooklyn was a feast for the senses.
