In the course of my research on the history of the NYC subway system, I keep finding the name of a neighborhood in Brooklyn that I've never heard of. A group called the "Vanderveer Park Civic Association" was very active in the 1920s and 1930s on transit issues. Based on where several streets with "Vanderveer" in it are located, I'm guessing that it was located somewhere to the east of Flatbush. Do you have a more specific location?

My Brooklyn was Bensonhurst, P.S. 186, Seth Low, then the great Lafayette High School. Still see tons of people from those days, graduated in 1954. Live in South Florida. My heart belongs to 86th and Bay Parkway, the Bay Bar, Alba's pool room,
the famous "JERRY GORDON, AN ORIGINAL BAY PARKWAY BOY"
My entire childhood was spent in Trump Village during the 60s and 70s (P.S. 100, I.S. 303, Lincoln H.S.). Thousands of people with lots and lots of kids living in less than a one-square mile area. Nothing in Seattle (where I currently live) compares.
It's just pure luck I came across this page. My Brooklyn is the Brooklyn of the 60s Prospect Park just up the street. Kenmore, Albermarle, Loews Kings and the Rialto. Holy Innocents grammar school, class of '66. Bishop Mcdonnell High School, class of '70. Garfield's, Dubin's bakery . . . Ebinger's, Charlie's Pizza on Church Ave.—best pizza in the world, black and white ice cream sodas, egg creams, Coney Island, living on top floor apartment on Ocean Ave. in those hot summers . . . memories.
