I lived at 292 St. John's Place between Plaza Street and Underhill Ave. from 1948 to 1967. I attended St. Teresa's and later Prospect Heights H.S. I graduated in 1966. It was the greatest neighborhood. We would hang out on the building stoops or at Herman's Ice Cream Parlor. We would sit for hours listening to the juke box and maybe only spend 25 cents on a cherry coke. Sometime we would even have one of Herman's eggcreams. I remember stick ball, roller skates with the keys, skully and box ball. Long bike rides through Prospect Park and on to the zoo. I bet I was only 9 or 10 when we took off by ourselves. On hot summer day it was off to Coney Island to spend the day at the beach. Life was great then. Remember the Good Humor truck or the ice man. He sold the delicious Italian ices. If you got a "Lucky Spoon" you would get a free ice. I remember the "half Moon " ride that came around on a truck. I believe it cost all of 10 cents. I now live in Minnesota but return to Brooklyn often to visit my family. I would love to hear from anyone who remembers the Sims. Please write me at my e-mail address.

I was born 4-8-47, Brooklyn Jewish Hospital. Grew up on Church & Nostrand Ave. Attended P.S. 181, Walt Whitman Jr. High 246, Erasmus Hall High. I love Brooklyn, Potsy, Russia, cork-cork, ringaleavio, hanging out at During's candy store, sneaking a cigarette around the corner or at the school yard, pinkies, stickball, eggcremes—choc., hero sandwiches, talking about boys, eating pizza at Naples Pizzeria, corner candy store at Church and Nostrand, Darby's pharmacy, Harrico drugs, Lincoln Savings, Garfield's, Ebinger's bakery, Bel-Airs grocery.
