I wasn't born in Brooklyn, but it's like if I was since the first time I've been there I felt at home. My Brooklyn is crazy heavy metal concerts at L'amours in the late 80s, shopping at Caesar's Bay Bazaar in the early 90s, my job at Lafata-Corallo Plumbing and Heating on 65th St. & 12th Ave. in the mid-90s, my wedding day at Regina Pacis church and at the Cotillion Terrace on 18th Ave. I live in Italy, I've married a girl from 69th St. & 14th Ave., but every year I go back to feel what no one place can give you, Brooklyn for good.
The Wonder Wheel, Steeplechase, Raven Hall Baths, The Thunderbolt, The Parachute Jump, Nathan's Famous, and Gargulio's Italian Restaurant; the West-End, Brighton Beach, and Sea Beach; New Utrecht H.S., 86th Street, Cropsey Avenue, and Nellie Bly; the Loew's Oriental, the Senate, the Benson, the Marlborough; Mitchell's, Chookie's, and Freitag's; Ebbets Field, Hilda, the Brooklyn Symphonium, Robinson, Reese, Snyder, Furillo, Gilliam, Hodges, and Campanella. . . . Need I say more?
Well I have written my story about my Brooklyn before but wanted to add thanks to this section I have been able to reunite with some folks that I had known growing up in My Brooklyn. In addition our family has grown from 19 children to 20 as we adopted another girl thanks again to the Internet. When last I wrote we had I believe 30 grandkids and are now up to expecting our 36th. This Brooklyn girl has really come a long way and would still like to go further. If anyone remembers me from Crown Heights, I put the wrong address down: it was 1275 Union Street or from my Flatbush days when I lived on 20 Harden Place near Flatlands Ave. and Flatbush.
